An active woman eating an average of 2,200 calories per day should be aiming to get around 83g of protein per day.

For a man eating an average of 3,000 calories per day, the amount of protein would be around 113g. 

A good intake of fats is also essential for ultimately healthy hair growth and to support cell renewal.

Good types of fats to include in your daily diet are extra virgin olive oil, avocados, MCT oil, coconut oil and flaxseed oil.

Thinning hair could be caused by a number of issues and it is always advised to have a check-up with a GP to rule out any health conditions.

Support Your Gut

The gut microbiome influences the skin microbiome which comprises the hair.

There’s evidence of a specific strain of bacteria Lactobacillus reuteri, which has increased dermal thickness, boosted folliculogenesis and sebocyte production of thicker, shinier fur in mice.

This strain of bacteria can be found in yoghurt with a longer fermentation that is not available commercially.

In this case, an alternative would be to make it at home or take it as a supplement.

Nourish and Hydrate Your Locks

Sesame oil is great for restoring balance and nourishing, leaving your hair looking and feeling much smoother.

For best results, simply massage some oil from your scalp through the roots and to the tips and leave it to act on for 20 minutes.
